Description
The Pentair Clean & Clear Cartridge Filter 100 (SKU EC-160316) is engineered to deliver strong filtration performance for in-ground residential pools. With an effective area of 100 square feet, it has sufficient media to trap debris and support system flows without frequent servicing. Its rugged tank of fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene offers extended life in chemical- and UV-exposed settings. The coreless cartridge system eliminates the need for water-wasting backwashes: when the pressure rises or the flow declines, you simply open the clamp ring, remove and rinse the cartridges, and replace them. Smart features like the 2-inch plumbing inlet/outlet, manual air-relief valve, and continuous internal air relief ensure the unit handles the pump’s output, maintains prime, and helps keep your water clear with less effort.
Pro Tip
Ensure your pump’s flow rate does not significantly exceed the filter’s designed capacity—while Pentair doesn’t list a maximum flow for this exact model, sizing the filter by roughly 1 GPM per sq ft (~100 GPM) is a good rule. Leave at least 12-16″ of clearance above the clamp ring lid to make cartridge removal easy. When cleaning cartridges, inspect for wear or damage and replace if the pleats are collapsing.
Installation Tips
High-level safety/compatibility notes only: Turn off pool pump power and relieve pressure before servicing. Ensure the filter rests on a level pad sized for the tank diameter plus water load. Confirm plumbing ports match the unit’s 2″ inlet/outlet and use compatible unions or fittings. After installation, verify that O-rings and clamps are clean, lubricated, and secured before restarting the system.
